Lately we have seen a dramatic increase in private lessons for triathletes here for training! Triathletes are a different breed of swimmers, as most of them did not grow up swimming to the same extent as most of us lifetime swimmers. Personally, I have done multiple triathlons – ranging from sprint distances to 70.3 – and I find that triathletes lack one thing the most: consistency in their strokes.
When I watch the majority of triathletes swim, each stroke they take looks almost completely different than the previous one. Being able to stay consistent in your catch and bodyline is the what holds back most tri-geeks. For this set this week, aim to have a consistent smooth freestyle stroke – working on increasing our distance per stroke. We will keep the tempo low, so this should not be too strenuous on our body.
Enjoy.
