In our previous videos with Max learned the pulling motion and body rotation in backstroke.  Now it's time to learn stroke rate with the 6 Kick 3 Stroke drill. As we initially discovered, Max's main problems in backstroke are a slow stroke rate and wide pull. Now that he knows the proper mechanics of the pull we slowly introduce stroke rate using this swim drill. Coach Gary then teaches Max the dolphin kick backstroke drill that forces the swimmer into a faster stroke rate.   These two drills in sequence are a great way to teach someone that is struggling to improve their stroke rate in backstroke.
