ELITE ONLINE COACHING

Jason Pullano is a swim coach and teacher in Dallas, TX. He has been the Head Swim Coach and Aquatics Coordinator for Dallas Highland Park High School since the fall of 2022 where he also serves in a teaching role as a physics teacher. Before working for Highland Park, Pullano was a teacher, coach, and school administrator for Granbury ISD since the fall of 2014. Pullano has also held swim coaching positions for the North Texas Nadadores, Dragon Stroke Team, and Jim Montgomery Masters Swimmers as well as serving on summer age group swim camp staffs at Indiana University and Texas A&M university. Pullano has been recognized multiple times as a District and Region coach of the year and is a Timothy Welsh ASCA Fellow (Class of 2022).

During his time as the Head Swim Coach in Granbury, the swimming program saw tremendous growth, becoming one of the most recognizable programs in the state of Texas. From the Spring of 2019 to the Spring of 2022, Pullano served as the district’s “Instructional Technology Coordinator,” a position that perfectly combined his passions for teaching and coaching. In this role, Pullano focused on using technology, innovation, and a unique blend of instructional strategies to increase engagement, retention, and excitement for classroom learning as well as participation in high school swimming.

In the Fall of 2020, in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic, Pullano refined his coaching philosophy and began turning towards concepts of game theory, or “gamification”, as a means to engage and retain students and athletes. This approach caught traction in swim coaching communities and Pullano began sharing resources and presenting his methods on infusing game elements into traditional training at coaching professional development events such as the ASCA World Clinic, College Swim Coach Association of America Clinic, Texas High School Coaches Association Summer Coaching School Clinic, USA Swimming’s Online Coaching University, along with other contracted clinic work for several states and LSC’s. Additionally, he has been featured in SwimSwam’s podcast, the Ritter Sports Performance Podcast, and the American Swim Coach Association’s Doc Talk Series discussing his unique approach and sharing his resources. Pullano has shown a willingness to share resources and strategies freely, specifically on the Swim Coaches Idea Exchange Facebook Group where he is a group administrator to over 24,000 members.

Pullano swam collegiately at Ouachita Baptist University under Head Coach Ryan Killackey. He graduated from Ouachita with degrees in biology and secondary education in the spring of 2014. He will graduate with a Masters in Educational Leadership in the Spring of 2025 from Tarleton State University. Pullano also serves as a remote adjunct instructor at Ouachita Baptist University where he teaches undergraduate education courses to Ouachita students seeking bachelors degrees in education, kinesiology, and communication disorder fields. Pullano and his wife, Jennifer Pullano, have a daughter, Quinn, and son, Parker.
