When should swimmers begin to use a crossover turn in the IM?
-
The Crossover transition for the IM is the fastest way to make it happen. It has several advantages over the other transitions. We also think that young swimmers should learn how to do it, but without taking a full breaststroke pullout. A single strong dolphin kick and up is about the same velocity as the full pullout. When swimmers are older with more lung capacity, they can then do the full pullout, if they want to.
