Dear Hall Family,

Only one short note to say that last week Vinicius competed in the regional championship (In Brazil we do not have national championship for his age), the most important competition for him in 2009. He got gold in the 100 m freestyle (1:05:01) and silver in the 50 m freestyle (29:15). He was 4th in the 200 m freestyle (2:26:76). His team won gold in both freestyle and medley (Vini did breaststroke because everybody was afraid of swim this stroke) relays. He is sending a big thanks because he used everything that he learnt during his time in the Race Club to achieve such great results. Next year, he goes to his first national championship.

Richards’ video is awesome!! Thank you Richard for such an amazing movie of Griffin and Sophia. We loved the way you edited it. S&G’s favorites were the reverse on the flip turns and the replay on the finish. And the video on  the diving was amazing – so much fun. We can’t thank you enough for all of the time and effort you put into it. They’ll treasure it forever!

Thanks again and hello to everyone!

To work with Gary is really unique! All the passion, knowledge and experience and the person he is gives a great feeling of trust! He also shows a permanent drive to go faster in the future and is very open minded about how to do this in combination with his knowledge.

The most important thing about the swim sessions are the basic and more detailed information for the work outs back at home. It is really amazing to see such an impact these sessions have and after every visit Marijn succeeds to improve his strokes. It is not only the strokes but the way of thinking to become a better and more complete swimmer.

Besides the fun with the unique RC drylands, the drylands show how important they are to become a good swimmer.

I think the last World Championships proves the importance of this video! It gives a very good view and routing to improve!! The trainers from Marijns club have seen them and I’ll think and hope it inspire them.

Our expectations were met!! MORE THAN THAT!! SUPER!

One of Marjins’ favorites was the combination from the dryland with swimming, for example, the boxing followed by an all out swim session.

Hi Bebe,

The coaching and sessions were excellent. Instructions were always clear and kept my motivation high all the time. I saw my progress session after session.

The TRC was above my expectations. I am very pleased with the camp and I definitely will recommend it.

I enjoyed the camp very much and it was a pleasure being coached by your dad and brother. It has made a huge difference in my swimming level.

Hi Bebe –

I just wanted to let you all know that we got Richard’s video yesterday and were blown away! It was beautifully filmed, the music was perfect and it was a blast to watch the kids! It’s also great to have the drills and dryland exercises recorded … that’s the kind of thing that you start forgetting now that we’re a month past the end of camp. Please let everyone know how much we (especially Zoe) appreciated it :-)

The Dartfish video was also really interesting … Zoe has never seen herself swim before and it will be very useful to try and improve her technique.

Zoe had a great time at the Race Club swim camp … I truly believe that it’s the single best thing she’s ever done for her swimming. Your family and Nico were incredibly knowledgeable, patient, supportive,  inspirational, helpful and fun. The other swimmers were great as well. I only wish she could have stayed longer :-)

Thanks again –

Hi Bebe,

I’m still sort of shocked a person with Gary Sr’s credentials would take the time to work with my wife and I. His ability to quickly analyze weaknesses – and strengths- in our strokes and communicate what we needed to change in clear simple concepts was incredible.

I really enjoyed the “smaller” town feel of Islamorada and our family had a great time exploring the keys when not swimming.

Yes, our expectations were fulfilled! I really didn’t expect it to be on such a friendly, personal level and just generally a lot of fun.

I’m not sure how we could of covered more ground in our 4 lessons so it was great.

Our open water swim with Gary was completely unexpected! Swimming in the Gulf of Mexico with a former world record holder/Olympian has got to be the coolest thing I’ve ever done as a swimmer. How many sports have superstars that are so accessible to normal athlete’s?

Thanks, we had a blast!

The Race Club was just exactly what Ashley needed! What an inspirational couple of weeks for her. She learned so much being there and can’t wait to swim this coming week at Junior Nationals! Please tell everyone thanks for making her time there so special. Your family is amazing, taking in someone they barely know and making them feel so at home. I just can’t thank you enough. It was a priviliege to hear your dad talk about swimming. His knowledge is amazing and actually I could come every day and just listen to him talk!!

God bless,

This camp has been the best we have attended so far. Joshua benefited tremendously, he is still talking about his experiences. The entire trip for us had the right balance of vacation/swim training.

It was a pleasure to meet you and your family.

I have to tell you: Vinicius is in love with the Race Club. He loved to meet with your father and be trained by Richard. He spent all the travel back home talking on when he will come back again to Race Club to one or more weeks of training. He is eager now to put in practice all that he learned from the four sessions that he had. It looks like that after this experience he will dedicate himself to swimming as ever. Therefore, be ready to get him back next year.

Best regards,

Jose Maria Silva
