Hi Bebe –
I just wanted to let you all know that we got Richard’s video yesterday and were blown away! It was beautifully filmed, the music was perfect and it was a blast to watch the kids! It’s also great to have the drills and dryland exercises recorded … that’s the kind of thing that you start forgetting now that we’re a month past the end of camp. Please let everyone know how much we (especially Zoe) appreciated it :-)
The Dartfish video was also really interesting … Zoe has never seen herself swim before and it will be very useful to try and improve her technique.
Zoe had a great time at the Race Club swim camp … I truly believe that it’s the single best thing she’s ever done for her swimming. Your family and Nico were incredibly knowledgeable, patient, supportive, inspirational, helpful and fun. The other swimmers were great as well. I only wish she could have stayed longer :-)
Thanks again –
Terri (and Zoe) Judd
I got your video. I thought that it was awesome. We really enjoyed watching it, I justed wanted to say thanks.
I’m still sort of shocked a person with Gary Sr’s credentials would take the time to work with my wife and I. His ability to quickly analyze weaknesses – and strengths- in our strokes and communicate what we needed to change in clear simple concepts was incredible.
I really enjoyed the “smaller” town feel of Islamorada and our family had a great time exploring the keys when not swimming.
Yes, our expectations were fulfilled! I really didn’t expect it to be on such a friendly, personal level and just generally a lot of fun.
I’m not sure how we could of covered more ground in our 4 lessons so it was great.
Our open water swim with Gary was completely unexpected! Swimming in the Gulf of Mexico with a former world record holder/Olympian has got to be the coolest thing I’ve ever done as a swimmer. How many sports have superstars that are so accessible to normal athlete’s?
Thanks, we had a blast!

The Race Club was just exactly what Ashley needed! What an inspirational couple of weeks for her. She learned so much being there and can’t wait to swim this coming week at Junior Nationals! Please tell everyone thanks for making her time there so special. Your family is amazing, taking in someone they barely know and making them feel so at home. I just can’t thank you enough. It was a priviliege to hear your dad talk about swimming. His knowledge is amazing and actually I could come every day and just listen to him talk!!
This camp has been the best we have attended so far. Joshua benefited tremendously, he is still talking about his experiences. The entire trip for us had the right balance of vacation/swim training.
It was a pleasure to meet you and your family.
I have to tell you: Vinicius is in love with the Race Club. He loved to meet with your father and be trained by Richard. He spent all the travel back home talking on when he will come back again to Race Club to one or more weeks of training. He is eager now to put in practice all that he learned from the four sessions that he had. It looks like that after this experience he will dedicate himself to swimming as ever. Therefore, be ready to get him back next year.

It is our honour to be associated to a camp organized by The Race Club. Johnathan and Joshua learned a lot and most of all had plenty fun. We were also lucky to have met you, your family as well as the other members of your prestigious club. Thank you for your kind hospitality on Saturday. As President of the local swimming club, Marlins it is my intention to have our club maintain relations with The Race Club.
The boys are anxiously awaiting the CDs. They were back in the pool yesterday practicing all that they learnt. It is out intention, school permitting, to be part of your July 2010 camp.
I’m so excited to tell you about how great of a Long Course State Meet Alexa had this weekend. It was the 1st time for her to end up in the top 16 in all of her individual events. I’ll list how she did & what her time drop was from one year ago. The big surprise was that she got a zone cut in her 100 free! She says it is all because of Race Club that her free has gotten so good and now she is finally a sprinter.
100 back: 8th place, 1:12.08 (6 sec drop)
400 IM: 13th place, 5:33.98 (19 sec drop)
200 back: 10th place, 2:34.31 (7 sec drop)
100 free: 13th place, 1:03.41 (5 sec drop)
Thank you for all that you have instilled in Alexa. She has much love and respect for you all!
Dear coach gary,
It was very fun to work with you. Now we know so much about swimming. We all think that you are one of the greatest couches we have ever had. Thanks!

I appreciated the fact that Gary thoroughly explained himself to both the campers and parents as to why and what he planned to do each session. Even though the campers in my sessions were at extremely different levels, Gary had a way about him that made the sessions work. It helped that he went over technical skills in progression and each day we would repeat what we did the session before and then learn new skills. Gary would “tweak” us individually to suit our needs.
Gary is impressive as a coach. He has a wealth of knowledge and displays a deep concern for his campers to become the best that they can be. I admire his expertise and his passion for the sport of swimming. The Olympic stories were a treat to hear!
Richard had patience to continue helping us if we had difficulty grasping the skill or skills being taught. He complemented Gary Sr. as his assistant with a gentle hand. Observing him over the course of the week, he has a special gift reaching the younger swimmers.
The swim sessions were a wealth of knowledge and very personal. I loved the progression style of teaching regarding the technical skills. I appreciate the extra help when I asked for it. Read more
