Just wanted to drop you guys a short note updating you on my progress since attending camp last year.  I couldn’t make camp this year as I decided to go to Fina Worlds in Italy instead.  It was a fantastic trip.  They had the fin-backed starting blocks which I first encountered with you and it really helped my slingshot start which I now exclusively use.  I swam out of my head. I dropped time like I couldn’t believe, some were lifetime PRs.  Anyway, I attribute a lot of this success to my time at RC (Race Club).  The changes to my freestyle have taken root and I’m excited to see what I can do now that I’ve broken these barriers.

All the best,
Mark Cox

Gary and Company,

I just wanted to let you know that I think you are doing a great job with the Analysis of the Underwater Pull Series.

Been a swimmer for 40 years (high school and college and now doing Triathlons) and a coach for 30 plus years and I am still learning good stuff from your videos.

I really like being able to print off the transcripts…..thanks for doing this…

Keep up the good work.

The Race Club’s evaluation video was of incredible help to my daughter when she started the college recruiting process. Several coaches told her that having the video allowed them to see her swim, something that they rarely get to do with a recruited swimmer until she arrives as a member of their team. Gary’s honest and expert commentary on her stroke technique put the video in perspective for the coaches. As one coach said, it made her times come alive. Read more

Dear Mr. Hall

I am writing to share my opinions about your camp called The Race Club. I participated in this camp in August and September, and I really enjoyed it. Not only is your camp encouraging, but it also teaches important life lessons.

I acquired many new swimming techniques at this camp that I never learned before. My stroke and times improved greatly because of your lessons. Everything you taught had information to prove it. Read more

with my thanks again to you and Nico for the chance to have worked with you at the Race Club in July, I just wanted to let you know that the swim across the Hellespont in Turkey this past Tuesday went fantastically.  Fortune smiled upon me, and I was able to make it across the 3.1 mile distance nineteen minutes faster than I had thought I could.  Your guidance and encouragement during our open water swims made a big difference, and I am grateful to you.

Best wishes.

Dear Dr. Hall,

Thank you for a wonderful week in Florida with The Race Club. The boys couldn’t have gotten better instruction and the environment was really ideal for creating a learning environment. I can’t say enough good things about Nico.  He is a terrific instructor. He was able to explain the drills simply enough so the kids could easily perform them and in the next breath explain to us the theory behind the drills and what to look for as their “parent” coaches. In 2009, on our way back from a training trip at Key West Community College, we stopped at the Race Club at Founders Pool for a 2 hour clinic with Gary Hall Sr. We were so impressed by he and his staff, that we created our entire 2010 training trip around the Race Club

The Race Club was extremely flexible and worked with us to create training sessions which fit the needs of our group. We were able to create our own custom camp, with pool sessions and dryland, some with our coaches and some with the Race Club staff. The kids still talk about the circuit workout ran by Gary Sr. and Nico.

We are currently planning our 3rd visit to the Race Club with a new group of eager swimmers.

Dr. Hall and Richard,

I attended your camp in April of 2010. Since I have been to The Race Club, my strokes have greatly improved and I have dropped time in all my events. I have improved the most in my fly and breast stroke. Thanks to your camp I started to side breath on my butterfly and this has helped me tremendously. I dropped 12.45 sec in the 100 fly in long course and 7.66 seconds in the short course. I think side breathing helped me stay low to the water and recover my arms faster. I took your advice and made my breaststroke pull short and fast. This helped me qualify for zones in all 3 breaststroke events. I am now trying to make a sectional cut in my breaststroke. For my freestyle I am keeping my elbow high during my catch and keeping my head down on my turns. It was very hard to do at first but with practice it is now second nature. I am about to start long course season as a 13 year old.

My 10 year old brother Carter also attended and he is doing well too. He hopes to make a zones cut in long course this season.

I am hoping to see you in Buffalo this August. My two brothers (I also have a 8 year old brother) will be there too. Thanks for all you have done for me.

Gary, Richard & Amy,

I just wanted to take a moment to say thank you for the amazing week I spent with the Race Club. It has been a long time since I have had a coach express his/her belief in me and my abilities, and your support and guidance has motivated me more than ever. The wonderful friendly atmosphere and Race Club spirit will be with me throughout this journey to the Olymics. I am already planning my next trip back to the Race Club to continue working hard and pursuing my dreams. Again, thank you for your motivation, belief and guidance and I look forward to swimming with you soon!

Dr. Hall

I wanted to thank you personally for the attention and coaching you provided Alex. Alex told me that the instruction that you provided was some the most detailed and helpful information he has ever received. He also mentioned that he received more useful instruction in 2 days than he has been given in a six year period on his club team and two previous swim camps. His two previous swim camp experiences were helpful, but he is now at an age where he seems to absorb the information better. He knows that he has a long road to meet his goal times but was inspired by you, Richard and Nico. Read more
